Brian Simmons: Power of Praise>

Brian Simmons is the author of "The Passion Translation" also known as TPT. This version, which he claims is the most-up-to-date and modern translation is not a tanslation at all. It is a pick and mix bag of "goodies" designed to appeal to the hyper-charismatic crowd which places passion for God at the forefront of their version of the Gospel. Sadly, this crowd is being led away from the truth into a false gospel, with a false Jesus and is in fact no Gospel at all.

His latest letter on the Elijah List demonstrates clearly that he is not a Bible translator and his claims are false. Brian tells us here We are told that We have to learn the secret power of praise. It is not 'hype' to praise God; it is the way into the realm of glory. Praise is like a pin code or password that allows you access into Heaven. Let us pick this apart carefully.

Firstly, he tells us We have to learn the secret power of praise. The phrase power of praise does not appear in the Bible. This is misleading and expresses the idea that the Gospel is a hidden work, which we will only understand when we praise God. This makes "praise" the gospel of salvation. Sadly, it is open only to initiates of the gospel according to Brian Simmons. The Bible is probably the most open book that has ever been writtn and its content is available to everyone. It is pure mysticism to talk about "mysteries".

Secondly, he tells us that It is not 'hype' to praise God; it is the way into the realm of glory. What the first part of this means is a mystery in itself but the second part is totally unbiblical. Praise does not take one into the realm of glory - it simply does not say that in Scripture. The reason why one gives "praise to God" is because Jesus is worthy of our praise. As a phrase it occurs at least 20 times in scripture. Praise is never praise if it is uttered with the object of receiving something in return. Even the world can understand that but, Brian Simmons seemingly cannot.

Thirdly and lastly, Brian informs us that Praise is like a pin code or password that allows you access into Heaven. This simply reinforces his previous remark. Praise, in and of itself will get you nowhere and praise will not get your prayers answered. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is about faith, not works. Praise becomes a work. The Gospel has to be received in faith. In a simple form the Gospel of Jesus Christ is this: From the moment Adam and Eve were placed on earth by God they sinned. We all inherit that sin nature: both our parents did and so will our children as well. Each and everyone of us is a sinner and as such we are unable to save ourselves, which is why we can praise God as His Son, Jesus died on the cross in order that our sin might forgiven, through trusting in His death on the Cross.

In conclusion, Brian Simmons fails to point his followers to the Cross and has proved himself to be a false prophet. What does this say regarding Simmon's The Passion Translation? Get rid of it.
