Katie Souza: A 1000 fold Blessing

An XpMedia email of today has Katie Souza excitedly telling us the following: Before this anointing hit our house, I didn't believe there was any other financial increases available to us but the 30, 60 and 100 contained in Matthew 13. Yet, when you study out Deuteronomy 1:11, it says that God will make us a 1,000 times more than we are and bless us! The root of the number 1,000 there means oxen, cattle and farming which in ancient times was money! Once God revealed this to me, He then proceeded to have the number 111 show up everywhere we went. It was on my phone, the microwave, the TV and even billboards on the side of the road! Well, before you go and purchase a brand new car on the basis of this financial breakthrough you might just wish to consider a few points in this amazing statement.

Where do we begin? Let's take it from the top. Where in the Bible did anyone have an anointing hit their house? No doubt Katie would suggest Cornelius' house in Acts 10. So Cornelius had a vision in his house and was instructed to send to Joppa for a man called Simon Peter who was residing with Simon, a tanner in his house by the sea (Act 10 vv3-6). The litmus test of whether this was a true vision was if the information given to Cornelius was correct. There is no mention of an anointing hitting the house in this story.

Next Katie misunderstands the promises of Matthew 13 regarding increase when she says I didn't believe there was any other financial increases available to us but the 30, 60 and 100 contained in Matthew 13.. She has found, so she says, that you can have an increase of a 1000 fold, not just a miserly 100 fold or worse it might only be 30 fold. The problem in this passage is that Jesus is using the parable of the sower. What is needed is Jesus's explanation later But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. Matthew 13 v23. In this verse Jesus is not referring to wealth but to the spreading of the true gospel. This is the context it sits in and we have no right to rip it out of its context and say it refers to the amount of money residing in a bank account.

Then she says Yet, when you study out Deuteronomy 1:11, it says that God will make us a 1,000 times more than we are and bless us! So let's look at Deuteronomy. It says May the LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times more numerous than you are, and bless you as he has promised. Deuteronomy 1 v11. Read the context where it says The LORD you God has increased your numbers so that today you are as many as the stars of the sky Deuteronomy 1 v10. This is a promise of increased numbers not wealth!

The root of the number 1,000 there means oxen, cattle and farming which in ancient times was money! This sentence is just twaddle! She is trying and failing to tie this verse to money and not to souls saved. Katie has taken something out of context to prove something completely different.

Once God revealed this to me, He then proceeded to have the number 111 show up everywhere we went. It was on my phone, the microwave, the TV and even billboards on the side of the road! Wow! that proves everything she has said doesn't it? NO! This is just creating an omen which the Bible expressly forbids (see Deuteronomy 18 v10). Cornelius's servants went to Joppa and found Peter just as the vision had said. If they had not then the vision would have been false. Katie is trying to sell her audience a bill of goods.

Sadly, many will be taken in by this article because they like Katie believe that God wants them rich. This is a concept which cannot be found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. It can be said that it can be found in Katie's gospel. The true gospel of Jesus Christ will save from a hell bound eternity whilst Katie's false and twisted gospel leave her rich followers still on the road to hell.
