Doug Addison: Repayment

We are now fast approaching a time of year when prophecies regarding the next start to appear on the Elijah List. Does God follow times as do we humans? The answer has to be "No". When one reads the Apostle Paul writing to the Galatians You are observing special days and months and seasons and years! Galatians 4 v10a, it can only be "No". Paul was not encouraging such times of observation but discouraging them. He then adds I fear for you, that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you. Galatians 4 v10b.

The first to break cover this year is Doug Addison, whose latest Elijah List contribution can be read here. According to Doug we are informed that God spoke to me that the enemy has overplayed his hand against us and that if we would ask Him to, He will bring repayment. How does the enemy overplay his hand? This is surely a doctrine of demons (see 1Timothy 4 v1-2), which Biblically is not permissible. For instance, Doug says God is bringing justice and repaying people for all that was lost, stolen, or cut short during the past nine years (from 2002-2011). Now this could be true since scripture says: I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten Joel 2 v25 but that is to ignore the fact that Joel is clearly referring to Israel, since God has brought upon Israel a great army of locusts, as a punishment. The problem that Doug presents is the question as to what Satan has taken. How do we know what Satan has taken? And how do we identify those things which Satan has taken from us? Unless we develop a doctrine of demons we don't know.

Doug then says: Your repayment might come to you in various forms and increments. So watch for things like new favor, unexpected money, raises, promotions, restored relationships, new spiritual gifts and God's power in your life. This turns God's blessings to us into a repayment. The Bible sometimes depicts our sin as debt against God. The Lord's prayer is an example of this when it says: Forgive us our debts Matthew 6 v12. We are in debt to God through our sin, yet Doug sees the reverse, that is, God owes us!

Doug then writes: As the sun sets on Rosh Hashanah (Friday, September 30th) an old season came to a close. We are now in three months of transition from October through December. Don't be discouraged by this transitional time, as it may look opposite from what you may expect. God is rearranging things, bringing new angelic assignments and lining things up for a fresh new start in January 2012. Does a sovereign God need to rearrange things? Did He not foresee what was happening? (that is if something was happening). If we understand: And we know that in all things God works together for the good of those that love him. Romans 8 v28 then we see God's sovereignty operating. But Doug also tells us that God is bringing new angelic assignments and lining things up for a fresh new start in January 2012. Is he really? If he is, then he is not sovereign. Note also here that Doug mentions Rosh Hashanna. This is an attempt, whether Doug does it on purpose or not, to make it sound biblical. Perhaps one should say Kosher!

So 2012 is going to bring new medical breakthroughs, new inventions and new business strategies and Some people will be shown how to make a million dollars overnight. Wow! Did not Jesus say: Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven where moth and rust do not destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is there your heart is also. Matthew 6 vv19-21. But of course, Doug is a dominionist and all this treasure that God is promising will be used in God's Kingdom. To put it simply: there is no verse which teaches that we should hoard money for the purposes of expanding God's kingdom. In fact the Kingdom of God comes to us! Doug Addison clearly does not understand scripture and is preaching another Jesus.

I heard two strategic series of dates this year: November 14-17, 2011 and December 9-14, 2011. What conferences are on on those dates? The first date is three days after Mahesh and Bonnie Chavda have their conference entitled 11-11-11. So there's no connection there except that they believe in dates as well. We shall just have to wait and see if anything significant happens during these two dates.

Next Doug tells us: When God spoke to me He said that because the enemy had overplayed his hand so strongly starting in 2002, that children born 2002 (this includes some children born 2001) will be used greatly and have a high destiny on their lives. For high destiny read Joel's Army or Latter Rain. Dominionists seem to have given up on expecting immortality now, so they must push it into the future a little bit and so of course, this must involve children. The problem for cults like this is that if thing's fail to function according to their prophetic paradigm they produce a new paradigm, ignoring the old one. If their paradigm is wrong then they shoud test it to determine whether it was from God in the first place. Sadly none of them ever do this.

As Doug draws his message to a close he tells us that the Lord said that this winter will bring an end to the season of dry bones. whatever that means. This must be from the Lord because immediately after he had had this revelation a freak rainstorm hit the roof of his house and thirty seconds later the sun was shining. When did Jesus or one of the Apostles ever confirm prophecy in this way? Satan has been trying to hold things back because this next move from God will be huge and have worldwide impact. This means that Satan is responsible for the season of dry bones and God is not sovereign. The whole of this ridiculous message of Doug Addison's should be completely disregarded by anyone who believes that they are a born again Christian.

This is the first of such words from the Lord about 2012 on the Elijah List and it certainly wont be the last. There will be many more prophecies (or should one say attempts to prophesy). They will all be inaccurate because their underlying premise, that is their theology, is warped, as can be seen from this example.
