Bryan Burt: Deception

Bryan Burt tells us here on the Elijah List that this is the time to allow the Spirit of Truth to lead you to all truth. This makes deception impossible. Prepare yourself for joy unspeakable! The purpose of Zedekiah List, whether those it features agree or not, is to show others that those people are expressing thoughts which are not in the Bible. The reason they do so is because they do not test their words against scripture as the Apostle Paul tells us to in 1Thessalonians 5:21. Thus, they enter the realm of deception in utter blind ignorance. Why is there a problem with these words of Bryan's?

The first sentence can be true, but it fails in the sense that the Holy Spirit will only operate within the bounds of Scripture. This is something which the New Apostolic Reformation or NAR ignores. If one gives prophecy, how do we know that it is of God. If it is not of God then it is not the Holy Spirit speaking. This is horrible to contemplate but the penalties for speaking in God's name falsely are extremely severe. If it is not of God, then that prophet is adding to God's Word - the Bible. The severity of the punishment for this crime is listed in Revelation 22 v18.

Deception is always possible, it is not as Bryan says: This makes deception impossible. An examination of the life of Jesus make this quite plain. Jesus was tempted in the wilderness for 40 days and nights (see Matthew 4:1-11) and tempted at various times during his ministry. He was severely tempted on the cross when they said: Let this Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, so that we may see and believe!" Those who were crucified with Him were also insulting Him.Mark 15:32. The purpose of any temptation is to make us sin and we will have been deceived. To believe that we are free from deception is simply deception itself. It is not a cause for joy.

If we call any spirit the Spirit of Truth then that spirit cannot and will not correct any person who misguidely believes it. The problem that hyper-charismatics have is that they have a heightened sense that they are somehow superior to any other person or group who would call themselves 'Christian'. This word is so commonly misused that it is almost devoid of true meaning. Many denominations are almost completely deceived and every branch of christianity will speak what they believe to be the truth.

Many in the New Apostolic Reformation believe that they are the sole guardians of the truth. Sadly, they are not.
