Amanda Wells: Shifting Point
The world is at a shifting point says Steve Shultz after reading Amanda Wells' article on the Elijah List. Mmm. No, 'shifting' is not mentioned in scripture. So is what Amanda is prophesying true?Amanda Wells is one of the, er, new breed? She begins by telling us that I have just returned from a ministry trip to the UK and Germany, and while I was there I had an amazing encounter with God that has totally changed my life. For the past four years when I pray before I preach, I have sensed to say the same thing, "Your Kingdom come today, let Heaven be on earth in this building today and signs and wonders follow the Word." After declaring this in the first meeting, just 4 hours after a long 28-hour flight, I heard the Lord say, "You've declared it and I have now established it." This sounds decidely Word Faith. Where in scripture are we given such a declarative role? Perhaps some of the prophets had such a role but they only declared what the Lord had told them. If the Lord has told Amanda something, should it not be part of the canon of scripture?
Amanda then prophesies, firstly for the United Kingdom saying: This is the time of wonders, outstanding signs and wonders. England, you are coming into a time of amazing wonders, or supernatural phenomena, and miracles. This is going to manifest in an amazing release of glory breaking out all around you, everywhere you go. England, this is a year where God is measuring you, amending, changing, renovating, and turning you. God is releasing a new grace and favour to you, so as to turn around the persuading doubt that has come like a cloud over the nation; God is going to turn impossible situations around, and it will seem even in a day the nation will turn. Is it for the UK or just for England? This is very confusing. Can England move around? Is there a persuading (does she mean 'pervading') doubt that has come like a cloud? In fact, why should God be dealing with England? Will God show signs and wonders so that many will come to a knowledge and faith in him just for many to mock and scorn?
Then it is Australia's turn: Australia, we are going to be activated as "releasers of glory" in this season in an all new way. It's the time that a love revolution will be sparked, and change will come to our world. Are we ready? This is the day where angelic activity is increasing in every domain. New doors are opening, fresh paths are being uncovered, revelation is exploding, new callings and mantles being released to us, and so much more. These are days of restoration, which includes recovering lost inheritances from natural and spiritual generations. Did we not have the love revolution back in the sixties with flower people, drugs and every other evil which Satan could throw at us? It certainly changed the world but perhaps Australia missed it. New callings and mantles being released to us is classic dominionist speak.
After a brief detour around Ruth, Paul and Silas, Amanda makes this statement: Glory is the core of the brilliance of God's Presence. This is a statement which cannot be backed by scripture. Glory releases the supernatural realm in our midst where healing, deliverance, miracles, signs and wonders break out. This generation is at a pivotal time. Things are shifting. The heavens are leaning in and angels are watching and showing up... God is moving and shifting things in ways we've never anticipated or expected. Are we ready? How is it that God's glory might be given to man such that glory releases the supernatural realm when scripture says: I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols. Isaiah 42 v8? That's pretty forthright and it is repeated in Isaiah 48 v 11.
Amanda repeats this a few paragraphs later by saying: We will begin to experience Mount of Transfiguration experiences, where, because of our encounter with Heaven, we will not only have found the thin place, the Church will be the thin place and people will see what looks like transfiguration as the transformed Church is intensely illuminated, manifesting His glory. Only three of the disciples actually saw the Transfiguration of Jesus. It is not an experience promised to us in scripture. Additionally it was Jesus who was transfigured, not his disciples so why should the church now appear to the world as "transfigured"? Where is the thin place found in scripture? It is not there but is in fact it comes straight of the occult.
Our link to Heaven and our intimacy with the King is the hope for the world. Not according to scripture: Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Saviour and of Christ Jesus our hope. 1Timothy 1 v1. The world needs to hear the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This world is decaying because of the sin of each and every person. Jesus came into this world to die for us that we, through faith in Him, might be changed. This change is effected not by man but by God through his Holy Spirit as we are born again to repentance and new life. Our sole task is to preach this gospel of repentance to all. Amanda's statement is simply a gospel of works, which is no gospel at all.
Amanda then discusses intimacy. Now this is the problem for all the new breed: Prophecies, such as this regarding 'intimacy' are given, often about revival, but there is no fulfillment. This, therefore requires more prophecies to correct the previous prophecy and on and on it goes. A revival was promised for 1988; it would come in like a tidal wave, and we are still awaiting it. Here we are today being told the new reason why it has not come - the prophets have decided that we lack intimacy. When false prophecies are made it restricts how God can work. Will God bring revival when it has been prophesied falsely? Who will get the glory for such a revival, the prophets or the Lord of Glory?
Amanda then repeats her previous false statement by saying: The Lord then showed me how the glory, isn't for us to just enjoy but it is His invitation to marriage and the bedchamber. His glory appears for the intention of intimacy. Our link to Heaven and our intimacy with the King is the hope and the drawing quality and influence for the world. Amanda has managed to twist many scriptures together to produce this nonsense.
Finally we get to the prophecy for USA. Intercessors who have declared righteousness... it is now being established! Ha ha... Hollywood had sin 'coming out' but now you will see one after the other 'come out' and stand for righteousness. This is where we started: the intercessors declare something, in this case righteousness and so God will do it. This is poppycock. The outcome of a true revival is righteousness but it comes through lives being changed by the preaching of God's word - not by men and women declaring righteousness.
So Amanda concludes by saying The world is at a shifting point, we are the alignment the world needs, and we are the conduits that Heaven uses to download into the earth. This is a pivotal time and all of Heaven stands waiting. It is Amanda saying that the world is at a shifting point - not the Lord. This is false prophecy. It is putting men and women into god-like exalted positions when she says: we are the alignment the world needs, and we are the conduits that Heaven uses and it belittles the sovereignty of God.
How then can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" Romans 10 vv14-15.
